Cobar Primary Health Care Centre

Practice Manager

Cobar Primary Health Care Centre is a GPA Accredited Practice and currently has a vacancy for a Fulltime Practice Manager to become part of the practice team. This is a full-time position 76 hour per fortnight with a probationary period of 3 months.  As an accredited practice, the successful applicant would be expected to work with the practice team to maintain the RACGP Standards for General Practice and be committed to continuous quality improvement.

 

As Practice Manager you will be directly responsible for the coordination & maintenance of all the operational requirements & accreditation of Cobar Primary Health Care Centre to ensure that it functions as a best practice primary health care centre & supports our multidisciplinary team of doctors, nursing staff, Aboriginal health worker, social & community officer, allied health practitioners & mental health nurse to provide high level services to clients and community..

 

The Practice Manager must act with a high level of professionalism, confidentiality & integrity at all times within the practice & in the community. Excellent communication, interpersonal & conflict resolution skills are essential. You must have the ability to interact with other staff & General Practitioners in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible, being proactive, resourceful & efficient, is crucial to this role. Excellent written & verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability & attention to detail are all equally important.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience in General Practice or related health service management
  • Knowledge of MBS bulkbill item numbers & online claiming
  • Knowledge of requirements for Practice Incentive Program
  • Sound financial management skills including basic reconciliations, invoicing, debtor and creditor management, and business modelling opportunities
  • Knowledge of current RACGP accreditation process, Infection Control & WH&S standards
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritise & problem solve
  • Excellent written & oral skills with a focus on clear, concise and respectful communication
  • Demonstrated patient-focused approach in service provision
  • Demonstrated relationship building, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience working in a team environment and understanding of importance of being a team player
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement within community
  • Competent computer skills (practice billing & clinical software, word processing, database, internet & email)
  • Experience in evaluating workplace practices against accreditation standards, quality systems & organizational policies & procedures
  • An understanding of the importance of cultural competency and the issues impacting on our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations
  • Current driver’s license
  • Experience in supervision of staff, management of contractors and basic HR functions

 

Desirable Criteria

  • Member of a professional body
  • Certificate IV in Practice Management
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate

The NSW Outback Division of General Practice (NSW ODGP) is a health service provider working to improve the health of people living in the outback shires of Cobar, Bourke, Brewarrina, and Walgett. NSW ODGP currently has the following full time Mental Health Nurse vacancy and is looking for enthusiastic professionals to join the organisation and contribute to our efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in north western NSW.  The NSW ODGP manages a variety of health contracts focusing on early intervention and prevention of disease, chronic disease management, mental health care, healthy lifestyle programs and health promotion.

 

The Mental Health Nurses will work within the ODGP MHNIP program based upon an innovative, a successful model of care and collaborative service framework involving Local Health District Mental Health Services, General Practice and Aboriginal Health Community controlled services. The MHNIP positions will be working directly with General Practice led multidisciplinary teams in both mainstream GP and Aboriginal Medical Service settings as well as undertaking brief clinical placements with the Local Health District Mental Health services to strengthen the Stepped Model of Care.

Highly attractive salary packages (based on CNC rate - $94,000 to 98,000 plus leave loading and superannuation) will be paid according to qualifications and experience and will be in line with the relevant modern awards.
